Why Karachi Will Host Fewer PSL 10 Matches – Nadeem Khan Explains

The much-anticipated PSL X is set to take place from April 11 to May 9, 2025, featuring 34 thrilling matches. However, Karachi, which hosted the grand finale of PSL 9 between Islamabad United and Multan Sultans, has been allocated only five matches this season at the National Bank Stadium.

Reason Behind Fewer PSL 10 Matches in Karachi

Following the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) official announcement of the PSL schedule 2025, speculation arose regarding the reduced number of games in Karachi. Many believed that declining ticket sales and franchise preferences played a role in this decision. However, PCB’s Director of High Performance, Nadeem Khan, has clarified the reasoning behind the shift.

The main concept is based on a home-and-away format. Previously, Quetta Gladiators had Karachi as their home venue, but this year, they have moved to Rawalpindi,” explained Nadeem Khan.

He further elaborated that Peshawar Zalmi also opted to host their home games in Rawalpindi, leading to an increase in the number of matches played there. As a result, Karachi was allocated fewer games in PSL 2025.
