The PSL grew from six to eight teams after the PCB held a franchise auction on 8 January 2026 at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad. FKS Group won the Hyderabad franchise for PKR 1.75 billion and OZ Developers won the Sialkot franchise for PKR 1.85 billion, a combined PKR 3.6 billion. PSL 11 in 2026 was the first eight-team season.

How did the franchise auction work?
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Date and venue | 8 January 2026, Jinnah Convention Centre, Islamabad |
| Qualified bidders | 10: Inverex Solar Energy, OZ Group of Companies, VGO TEL Mobile, Jazz, DSM, i2c, Prism Estate and Builders, Walee, Aim Next Inc. and FKS |
| Team 7 (Hyderabad) | Base price PKR 1.1 billion; sold to FKS for PKR 1.75 billion |

Winning bidders chose a home city from a PCB-approved list. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi projected that the new teams would generate PKR 36 billion in revenue over 10 years; that is a projection, not a result.

What was the commercial context?
Walee Technologies was one of the ten qualified bidders in January 2026. Wikipedia later lists it as the owner of Rawalpindiz, and it also holds the 2026 to 2029 media rights, which we cover on the sponsors and broadcasters page. The combined annual fees of the eight franchises are PKR 882 crore on the same source; the team owners page breaks them down by team.
What happened to the Sialkot franchise?
Sources differ on how the eight PSL 11 teams relate to the bidding. Wikipedia lists Hyderabad Kingsmen (FKS Group), Rawalpindiz (Walee Technologies, described as formerly Multan Sultans) and Multan Sultans (CD Ventures, described as formerly Sialkot Stallionz), and it gives a PKR 2.45 billion sale of the Multan franchise in February 2026. The January report we cite names only Hyderabad and Sialkot. We do not resolve the lineage here; the team owners page shows the current owner of each team.
