In the PSL a win earns 2 points and a no result earns 1, based on the PSL 11 table, and teams level on points are separated by net run rate. NRR is the average runs a team scores per over minus the average it concedes. In PSL 11 it decided fourth place between three teams on 10 points, and in PSL 10 it placed Islamabad United above Karachi Kings.

How many points does a team get?
| Result | Points | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Win | 2 | Derived from the PSL 11 and PSL 10 tables |
| No result | 1 | Derived from the PSL 11 table (Peshawar: 8 wins and 1 no result gave 17 points) |
| Loss | 0 | Derived |
| Tie | Decided by a Super Over | The records list counts Super Over wins and losses |
The points per result are our reading of the published tables; the sources we checked do not state them in words. We have not found the PCB’s full tie-break order, so we do not state any rule beyond NRR.
How is net run rate calculated?
NRR is total runs scored divided by total overs faced, minus total runs conceded divided by total overs bowled, across the whole league stage. As a simple illustration, not a real match: a team that scores 180 in 20 overs (9.00 an over) and concedes 160 in 20 overs (8.00 an over) gains +1.000 for that match. Over a season the runs and overs are totalled before dividing, so one heavy win moves NRR more than a close one. Standard T20 practice counts a team that is bowled out as having faced its full quota of overs, but we have not checked the PSL regulations on this.
Where did NRR matter in PSL 11?
| Team | Wins | Points | NRR | Result |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hyderabad Kingsmen | 5 | 10 | -0.361 | 4th, qualified |
| Lahore Qalandars | 5 | 10 | -0.482 | 5th |
| Karachi Kings | 5 | 10 | -0.869 | 6th |
All three finished level on points and NRR alone separated them. Hyderabad went on to win two playoff matches and reach the final. The full table is on the PSL 11 points table page.
Do points always beat NRR?
In the PSL 10 table, Lahore Qalandars finished fourth on 11 points with an NRR of +1.036, the second-best in the league. Islamabad United (12 points, +0.372) and Karachi Kings (12 points, +0.049) ranked above them because points come first and NRR is applied only between teams level on points. Lahore still qualified and went on to win the title; read how the playoffs work in the format and playoffs guide.
In both seasons the fourth-placed team had 10 or 11 points from 10 matches. That is a guide to how many wins are needed, not a rule, and it depends on the format the PCB sets for PSL 12.
