Why does Rawalpindi host so many matches?

SeasonReason in our sources
PSL 8 (2023)A January 2023 report said the 11 matches reflected the crowds at earlier PSL and international matches; Peshawar’s Arbab Niaz Stadium was declared unfit.
PSL 10 (2025)Matches planned for Imran Khan Cricket Stadium in Peshawar were dropped because the ground was not fully ready, and a league match was moved from Multan to Rawalpindi.

In both cases Rawalpindi absorbed fixtures that could not be played in Peshawar, which has no PSL venue in current use. Islamabad United, the host team in 2023, were scheduled to play five home games there that year. See Peshawar Zalmi for how the team without a home ground has fared.
